Time once more to check in on the Global Poker Index rankings. Not a lot of movement has taken place over the last month in the 2019 GPI Player of the Year race. The Top 10 looks almost identical to how it appeared during our last check at the start of September, with the players in the top six spots all the same and Sean Winter still out in front.

That makes seven straight weeks at No. 1 for Winter who has occupied the top spot a total of 19 weeks during the first nine months of the year.
The only change in the Top 10, in fact, was thanks to James Romero who moved up from No. 10 a month ago to No. 7 at present. Since cashing four times during the European Poker Tour Barcelona series, Romero added two more scores in September at the Merit Poker Retro series in Cyprus, including a final table and seventh-place finish in the Main Event won by Sergey Konovalov.
Overall GPI Top 10
Rank | Player | Overall GPI Score |
---|---|---|
1 | Stephen Chidwick | 3777.62 |
2 | Alex Foxen | 3605.30 |
3 | Rainer Kempe | 3449.14 |
4 | Bryn Kenney | 3405.02 |
5 | Sean Winter | 3342.41 |
6 | Sam Greenwood | 3331.12 |
7 | Manig Loeser | 3276.97 |
8 | Michael Addamo | 3219.67 |
9 | Timothy Adams | 3219.09 |
10 | Nick Pupillo | 3205.40 |
Meanwhile, there was a bit of shuffling in the overall rankings over the last few weeks, although today the top seven spots are all the same as they were a month ago. Stephen Chidwick hasn't moved from No. 1 since then, either, making it seven weeks in a row at the top for the UK pro.
Looking down the list, the Australian poker pro Michael Addamo has reached a career peak of No. 8 in the GPI rankings. Addamo's most recent big score was a third-place showing in the EPT Barcelona €25,000 Single-Day High Roller in which Juan Pardo won and Gerard Pique took second.
Timothy Adams also currently sits at No. 9 after winning a €10,300 event in Barcelona, also marking a career-high ranking. Indeed, it was just a week ago the Canadian pro cracked the Top 10 for the first time in his storied career.

Nick Pupillo likewise inched up a spot this week to join the list at No. 10. Pupillo spent September collecting cashes in Milwaukee, New Jersey, and Colorado, including earning a World Series of Poker Circuit ring at the Potawatomi Casino, his third career WSOP-C title.
